Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie has teamed up with Jehnny Beth, solo artist and vocalist of the band Savages, on the album “Utopian Ashes”.

“Utopian Ashes” explores feelings of loss, miscommunication and the emotional roller coaster a married couple goes through when they realize the relationship is about to end. The album draws inspiration from country-soul classics such as Gram Parson's and Emmylou Harris' "Grievous Angel", and George Jones and Tammy Wynette's "We Go Together", on the theme of dealing with the heavy reality of a love that dies. Beth and Gillespie don't shy away from dealing with the difficult, but the album also fulfills what should be the goal of all good art: to make us feel less alone. And although it is not autobiographical, the album is influenced by the songwriters' own experiences.
